WE’RE GETTING A FACELIFT!
A NEW CULTURAL FACILITY FOR NORTH WESTERN SYDNEY
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is temporarily closed for major renovations that will deliver a significant new cultural facility at Castle Hill and provide world class storage for the collections of three of our state cultural institutions – the Australian Museum, Sydney Living Museums and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences.
The development will include new and enhanced educational learning and public engagement areas and a 9,000 square metre building that will house the collections of the three partner institutions.
The new facility will offer visitors behind-the-scenes access to engage with the breadth and depth of the three collections and will build on the success of the Powerhouse Discovery Centre, which opened in 2007 and has become a significant cultural attraction in north western Sydney.
There will be a staged reopening of the site to the public from mid-2015.
