There are a number of ways to visit the Powerhouse Discovery Centre:

The Powerhouse Discovery Centre welcomes pre-booked casual visits during the week from individuals and groups.

Open Weekends
Available: Please check our ‘What’s On’ for upcoming open weekend dates and programs.
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre will be trialing a new approach in opening to members and the general public on selected weekends. Previously the Discovery Centre offered 10 Saturday open days per year and will now be changing to a selected number of open weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 10.00am-4.00pm). Our aim is to continue to provide valuable, educational and entertaining themed programs for visitors of all ages that allows for extended visitation and enjoyment across a weekend.

School Holidays
Available: Tuesday—Friday, 10.00am—4.00pm during NSW school holiday periods.
Bookings are required for some programs during the school holidays. Bookings are essential for groups of 10+ (including vacation care groups and community groups).
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre presents entertaining and educational programs for children aged from 3—14 years, including performances, make-and-do activities, workshops and more!

Museum Object Viewing in Closed Storage Areas
Special requests to view museum objects located in closed storage areas may be accommodated in conjunction with the Powerhouse Museum’s Curatorial Department. Please contact the Powerhouse Discovery Centre on 02 9762 1300 for further information.
Public Holidays
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is closed on public holidays.
Please note: Bookings, pre-payments and terms and conditions apply to some open day programs, school holiday programs and special events.
Disability access
All stores, including the Display Store, are accessible to visitors with a disability, except upstairs in one building. Disabled toilet facilities are located in the Display Store.
There are three dedicated disabled parking spaces near the entrance to the Display Store, which is available to the public to use on a first come first serve basis.
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is an Affiliate of the NSW Government's Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care's Companion Card program. This means that carers who accompany a person with a disability will be eligible for free entry on presentation of their Companion Card. For more information visit www.companioncard.com.au

School holidays
Debit and credit card fees: As part of a NSW Government requirement, from 1 July 2012 the Powerhouse Discovery Centre will apply a surcharge on all transactions made by debit or credit cards. Surcharge rates are determined on a cost-recovery basis only. No surcharge will be incurred when paying with EFTPOS, cheque or cash. Payments made on VISA and Mastercard will attract 0.40% and American Express 2.75%.

The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is located on the corner of Windsor and Showground Roads in Castle Hill.
There are currently two entries to access the Powerhouse Discovery Centre: The TAFE driveway located on Green Road or the Powerhouse Discovery Centre’s driveway on 172 Showground Road, Castle Hill. The entry that suits you better will depend on the direction that you approach from. Please see the map below for details:
